Privacy & Cookies

Pause & Wish is a personal hobby project by Loubna Latifine, based in Antwerp, Belgium. There is no company behind it. Loubna is the controller of your personal data.

We collect the information you give us: your name, your email address, and the settings you choose (language, currency, default thinking time, theme and start page). We also store the items you add, including title, price, shop, optional note, optional link, optional photo and your reflection answers.

We collect basic technical data needed to serve the app securely, such as your request logs and the anti-bot check on the sign-in page.

Your pause items and wishlist items are stored in our managed database, linked to your account. Access rules on the database mean only you can read or change your own items.

A wishlist becomes visible to other people only when you create a share link and send it yourself. Anyone with that link can see the items you marked as public; private items stay hidden. Photos you upload are stored in our file storage and served through the app.

You can sign in with an email address and password, or with Google. When you use Google, we receive only your name and email address. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.

These cookies keep Pause & Wish working and cannot be switched off. They help you stay signed in between visits and remember preferences such as your language, theme and other settings.

We protect our sign-in and sign-up forms with Cloudflare Turnstile. It may set a cookie to distinguish real people from bots. This cookie is used only for security and not for advertising or tracking across websites.

No advertising cookies. No social media trackers. No cross-site profiling.

We do not sell your data, your attention or your behaviour.

You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and may prevent parts of Pause & Wish from working correctly.

We rely on a small number of providers to run Pause & Wish: our hosting and database platform, Google sign-in (if you choose it), and Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots on the sign-in page. When you paste a product link, we fetch the public page of that shop to read the product name, price and photo. Our optional browser extension reads a product page only when you click it.

Some wishlist items may contain affiliate links.

Pause & Wish does not use affiliate links during the pause period. If you decide you no longer want an item, no affiliate link is ever used.

Affiliate links are only added to items that have completed their reflection period and were intentionally kept on a wishlist. This helps support Pause & Wish while staying true to our goal: encouraging thoughtful purchases, not impulse buying.

If you visit a shop through an affiliate link, that shop may use its own cookies to attribute the visit. Any cookies set there are governed by that shop's own privacy and cookie policies.

The price you pay is always the same, and affiliate partnerships never influence recommendations, rankings or visibility. Pause & Wish has no ads, no sponsored products and no paid recommendations.

You may occasionally see a "Buy me a chai latte 🍵" button linking to Ko-fi. Supporting the app is entirely optional. It never unlocks features and is never required to use Pause & Wish.

You can view and edit everything in the app: your profile, your pause items and your wishlist items. You can delete any item at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and all data linked to it.

You can also ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it. We answer requests within 30 days.

We keep your data as long as you have an account. You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings.

When you delete your account, everything is erased immediately and permanently: your lists and items, your pause list, your follows and reservations, your profile photo and your account itself. Feedback you sent stays, but without your name or account attached.

Technical backups are overwritten automatically within a few weeks.

Your data is stored on secure servers of our hosting provider. When a provider processes data outside the European Union, this only happens with appropriate safeguards such as the European standard contractual clauses.

We use a mail service only to send account emails and replies to your messages.

Something not right? Email me first at pauseandwish@gmail.com, I answer within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

We make no automated decisions and build no profiles about you.
